Key Stage 3 Year 7

Pupils develop their French language skills through a number of activities in listening, speaking, reading and writing throughout years 7, 8 and 9. There are a number of topics studied including, family and pets, school, hobbies, and places in the town.

 

The department subscribes to Linguascope which allows pupils to practice the vocabulary with interactive games and tasks. The department embraces all aspects of new technology in its teaching methods.

IPad’s and Google Chromebooks are used regularly in lessons also a large interactive touch screen. 

 

Topics include introductions, pets, nationalities, countries and pupils learn about France. 

 

Key Stage 3 Year 8

Topics include family, hobbies, past tense, future tense and school.

 

Key Stage 3 Year 9

Topics include birthdays, town and region and talking about where you live. 
 

Pupils are encouraged to speak French as much as possible in lessons in order to increase their confidence and improve their oral skills. Pupils learn through a balance of the four skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing, and these are all complemented by games and songs.
